electable roles. If you have not received the mail, please contact Gill at

Lookout Water Supply and Hot Water heater – Ed Essery

The results from the recent testing of the water supply to the Lookout have come back clear and
confirm the water supply is now potable. Certificates have been posted in the Lookout. During the
Early and Middle Watches on Thursday Jo the plumber will be in the Lookout sorting out the
plumbing for drinking water and reinstating the hot water system. I will come up with him – we
expect to be up there between 9.30 and 10.00.

Visit to HMCG NMOC at Fareham

Ed Essery has arranged another visit to the Coastguard NMOC at Fareham on Wednesday 9th
October, arrive by 10:30 for an 11:00 start. The event is open to qualified Watchkeepers who did not
attend last year’s visit and eligible Watchkeepers will receive a separate email with details in the
next few days. Uniform will be required.

2019 Rolex Fastnet Race – 3rd August.

As noted in last week’s issue, this Saturday is the latest running of the Fastnet Race. The race start
times are from 12:30, so the afternoon Watch should have a good view. You can follow the race via
the official web site at https://www.rolexfastnetrace.com/

VHF SRC Course – 17th August – Peter Ellis

There are still a couple of places available on the course for Watchkeepers and Trainees who don’t yet have their radio license. Please book in via FMS as usual.

Information Updates

New Design NCI Web Site.

We will soon have a new look NCI national web site. The site will be more “modern” with the emphasis on the front page being up to date news stories about NCI Stations which often will be sourced from stations’ Facebook pages or “Blogs” (see next item). The present content will still be available but will be accessed through a more user friendly menu structure and the web site will be easier to view on a smart phone or tablet. From 1st of August the present web site will be frozen …it can still be viewed but no new updates will be possible. It is expected that the new web site will replace it on or about the 12th August and that a guide to using the new menu structure will have been circulated by then.

Christchurch Priory Charity of the Month – Caroline Walker (PR and Social Media)

Christchurch Priory have very kindly asked Hengistbury Head NCI to be their Charity of the Month for August. From the 5th August we will have a display area at the back of the church (walk straight across from the entrance and you should bump into it) showing various information panels and photos, a donation box and, hopefully, some leaflets – if we can find somewhere to put them.
As we are now well into the school holidays the Priory asked if we could provide something to include visiting children and we have, therefore, come up with a drawing competition, the prize for which is time spent at the Lookout, including a Foot Patrol if the weather allows. There will be a stand just inside the entrance giving all the details but if anyone wants to know anything more about it please contact me at hengistburyhead.prmedia@nci.org.uk
On 25th August, Brian Roberts will be saying a few words at the morning service and Ed and I will be there to talk to members of the congregation after the service. Feel free to join us, in uniform please. We are also featuring in this month’s parish magazine which is available now, from the Priory, for a £1 donation. Spread the word!

Sea Sunday – Group Photo – Caroline Walker (Again!)

Caroline advises she has been asked for a larger copy of the group shot that was taken by the HH sign on Sea Sunday and was in the bulletin, and so wondered if anyone else wants a copy. If anyone does want a large jpeg of the shot please e-mail Caroline at the following address and she will send a copy by return. hengistburyhead.prmedia@nci.org.uk
